French fibre network operator Covage, created from the merger between Cube Infrastructure and Axia NetMedia Corporation, has been selected by the metropolitan area of Nantes to extend the so-called ‘Omega’ fibre network from 170km to 350km, under a 25-year public initiative plan. Telecompaper cites Ouest France as saying that under the contract, Covage will spend EUR8.8 million (USD12.1 million) to extend the network in the period January 2012 to June 2013.
