Ghana's telecoms regulator, the National Communication Authority (NCA), has confirmed that more than 1.5 million mobile SIM cards have been deactivated as part of the ongoing process to register all mobile phone users in the country. A report from local news site Adom Online quotes NCA Director-General Paarock VanPercy as saying that 433,246 of the deactivated SIMs had not been registered at all, while 1,091,645 had not been used for at least three months and there was also a problem with the registration application.
