According to Fierce Wireless, Sprint Nextel, the United States’ third largest mobile operator in terms of subscribers, has confirmed that its long-awaited Long Term Evolution (LTE) network is now up and running in Kankakee, a small town situated 60 miles south of Chicago. Although the network is also believed to be live in several other markets, the operator has declined to name them thus far.
