Ghana eyes digital dividend boost to mobile broadband

Ghana’s National Communications Authority, the NCA, plans to free up broadband spectrum by 2015 in a move that could triple mobile broadband capacity in the country. The spectrum would become available once Ghana phases out analogue television and moves to digital television. Director of Spectrum Policy for the GSMA Africa and Middle East Region, Peter Lyons, told journalists at a telecoms workshop held in Accra that the digital dividend could lead to the creation of 930,000 jobs and eleven million mobile broadband connections in Ghana by 2020
