National fixed line incumbent Uzbektelecom, which offers wireless and broadband services under the Uzmobile and Uzonline banners respectively, has signed a USD12.4 million contract with Chinese vendor Huawei to supply equipment for the telco’s ‘e-education’ project. C114 reports that Huawei will provide equipment for a fibre-optic network that the telco is currently deploying.
