Leap will not make USD75m payment to Sprint for 2012 network access

After experiencing what it described as an ‘unacceptable’ second quarter, Leap Wireless has confirmed that it will not make its USD75 million minimum wholesale purchase commitment for network access from Sprint Nextel. Fierce Wireless quotes Leap CEO Doug Hutcherson as saying: ‘Due to certain provisions in the wholesale agreement, we do not believe the company is obligated to meet this commitment in 2012, although we expect to satisfy a significant majority of it in any event
