New mobile data, IP-based services helping boost Bell’s revenues

Bell Canada Enterprises (BCE) has posted an 18.5% year-on-year rise in net income to CAD724 million (USD714 million) in the third quarter of 2011, on revenues that climbed by 10.1% to CAD4.3 billion. Cellular division Bell Mobility’s customer base grew by 3.4% in a year to 7.37 million at the end of September, while mobile data revenue increased by 34.1%, helped by accelerating smartphone penetration and increased usage of bandwidth-heavy applications including mobile TV.
