Russian railway telco makes a stop in HK

Russian long-distance network operator TransTeleCom (TTK) has set up a subsidiary in Hong Kong, with the intention of offering wholesale carrier services for operators as well as corporate services for Asian multinationals. TTK Asia Ltd – TTK’s first overseas unit to be established in the Asia-Pacific region – does not yet own a licence from Hong Kong’s Office of the Telecommunications Authority (OFTA) for international (external) fixed telecoms services, according to the regulator’s website. According to TeleGeography’s GlobalComms Database, TTK is wholly owned by state railway firm Russian Railways, and commercially launched international and Russian domestic long-distance (ILD and DLD) services in mid-2007.
