Virgin Media to double broadband speeds

Virgin Media has announced that over the course of the next 18 months the company will double broadband internet access speeds for over four million of its customers for no extra cost. The upgrades, which will extend throughout the cableco’s footprint of nearly 13 million homes, will boost the top speed offered to 120Mbps. Specifically, the following changes will take place: 10Mbps plans increased to 20Mbps, 20Mbps and 30Mbps increased to 60Mbps, 50Mbps increased to 100Mbps (then 120Mbps once launched), and 100Mbps increased to 120Mbps (once launched – customers will also receive a price reduction).
