Osiptel sets up mobile register

Peruvian regulator Osiptel has set up an online database of mobile lines in use, with the intention of decreasing the risk of third parties using mobiles registered in another person’s name to commit crimes. Customers sign into the database by entering the number of an identification document, such as their passport or ID card and are shown the telephone numbers, if any, assigned to them as well as whether the line is pre- or post-paid.
