AT&T Mobility has taken steps to initiate a deal to acquire a pair of Lower 700MHz ‘C Block’ licences from 700MHz LLC, a holding company associated with the Northeast Missouri Rural Telephone Company, Fierce Wireless reports. In a regulatory filing lodged by AT&T with the Federal Communications Commission (FCC), the cellco states: ‘The additional spectrum will enable AT&T to increase its system capacity to enhance existing services, better accommodate its overall growth, and facilitate the provision of additional products and services’. The spectrum in question applies to two Cellular Market Areas (CMAs), namely ‘ CMA 516’ (Missouri 13-Washington) and CMA 521 (Missouri 18-Perry).*As previously reported by TeleGeography’s CommsUpdate, in May this year AT&T revealed plans to buy eight Lower 700MHz ‘B Block’ licences from Cox, covering areas on the East Coast, including cities in Florida and Virginia.
