Dutch mobile network operators KPN Mobile The Netherlands and Vodafone Netherlands have revealed they plan to share mobile tower sites on a limited trial basis from September, Telecompaper reports. The cellcos’ pilot trial will be limited to ‘a certain area’, it says, and the national competition authority Netherlands Competition Authority (NMa) and spectrum regulator Agentschap Telecom have been informed about the nature, content and purpose of the trial. KPN and Vodafone will use the network sharing tests to see if they can mutually benefit from reduced network costs, better coverage and environmental benefits.
