Ukrainian mobile operators Kyivstar, MTS and Astelit have agreed to jointly construct and own GSM infrastructure providing coverage of the Kiev underground railway network, while the general contractor for the project will be Epic Services Ukraine (ESU), the parent of fixed line and 3G mobile operator Ukrtelecom. The capital city’s administration launched a tender for implementing the subway phone network project in March, and work on deploying the infrastructure is expected to start by the end of this year.
